An important outcome of this period was the evolution of the CRA from a simple self-help group into a strongly supported, fully-formed residents’ association. All residents are deemed to be members of the Chalklands community and are therefore considered to be members of the CRA. There are no application or enrolment procedures, and there is no compulsory subscription although the Association relies on voluntary donations from its members. Printed newsletters are prepared every two to three months or as circumstances require and are delivered free of charge to all properties. Email versions and occasional eBulletins are also issued to residents who have provided their email addresses. To protect the privacy of residents all emails are sent out as “Blind Carbon Copies” (BCC).
