This photo shows the state of the road at the lower part of Chalklands at its exit on to Blind Lane. Although this photograph was taken in 2003 the road had been badly damaged with many potholes for some time which made it difficult to navigate safely. Drivers had to steer around deep potholes to avoid damaging their cars which was particularly difficult when meeting someone driving in the opposite direction, as seen here.
