Sad News

It is with great sadness that the CRA Committee has to inform you of the loss of our Treasurer, Paul Jarvis.  Paul died on 7th July after a short spell in hospital following a recent operation from which he never properly recovered.  Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

Paul was an active member of the Chalklands Residents’ Association from the very start and he provided an outstanding contribution in his role as CRA Treasurer.  He performed these duties impeccably, but he also supported the CRA Committee with incisive analysis and pertinent observations across the full range of CRA activities.  His intelligent contributions, especially on matters that had a  potentially ‘legal’ aspect, were invaluable and his input will be sorely missed.  We shall also remember Paul as a lovely man: brave, well-read, well-mannered and good company.  His genial wit and charm will be missed by us all.

Paul was born in the house he lived in all his life (No.84) and with the help of some friends was preparing a history of Chalklands.  We hope to publish some of his recollections on the CRA website when it is launched later in the year.

We are now aware that, as a result of Paul’s illness, a number of your subscription cheques have not yet been paid in, and there are also some additional receipts and CRA discs that have yet to be distributed.  Please bear with us – we shall deal

with these matters as soon as possible.  In the meantime, please address any queries to the Chairman, Bill Leftwich.  Thank you.
